It’s not SharePoint. It’s the Internet Service.

This week, I am writing a short post about one of the more obvious reasons SharePoint might not be working – Internet Service.

Yes, as I said, pretty obvious. But I’m starting with this issue because sometimes we overlook the most obvious reason and assume that there’s something very complex going on.

So here’s a real-world scenario:

How did the issue present itself? à "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

Isolating the issue à Asked user to access yahoo.com, google.com, cnn.com, etc. – could not get to those sites either, and other users in the same location were reporting the same problem.

Root Cause à The internet service provider accidentally cut a line while performing some maintenance.

Resolution à Waited for the internet service provider to repair the line. J

Next week, we will look at the "oxygen" for SharePoint – SQL.
