Book Review: Take Back Your Life

I love BEING organized…I hate GETTING organized. I made a promise to myself (dare I say a resolution) in January that each month I would take one step closer to getting myself organized. M...

Vista prompt me no more!

Ever since moving to Vista and Office 2007 and MOSS everyone I know with this same configuration has complained about the constant prompting in Office 2007. Here is the scenario and the fix as detailed by one of our AWSOME Desktop Support Engineers at Catapult, Greg (Awesome-O) Tate: What’s the difference? I found a fix for the annoying Vista prompts in SharePoint, and both work well on domai...

Speaking at SPC 2008

I am happy to announce that I will be presenting three topics at the SharePoint Conference 2008 in Seattle March 3-6. Advanced Search Configuration and Management Organizations intending to implement a search solution in SharePoint often approach this "technical problem" by asking "What do we need to index?". While this approach may yield results they are usually less th...

Building a blog host, Part 3

In the previous post we created a web application to host our blog sites and built a Table of Contents with the TOC web part. We still have work to do to finish our home page. The summary of the steps are: Create a "Recent Posts" rollup ...

OCR in OneNote

Did you know that in addition to all the great note taking features of OneNote 2007 you can search for the text contained inside images? You can add images (screen clips, photos, scans, etc) to your notes and after the note is indexed you can use the OneNote search feature to locate the text. For example, I scanned Eric Russell's business card into OneNote. When I execute a search for &q...
