Operations Manager and the psychic network

What in the world does Operations Manager have to do with the psychic network? Let me tell you about it…

I was on a client site several years ago and I was called into a meeting with a vendor.

The vendor explained that they could send an email which Operations Manager could then respond to.

I politely explained that Operations Manager does not take an email as a source of information and then I proceeded to explain options available which Operations Manager can use as a source of information.

The vendor continued talking for a while and then said that they would send an email to Operations Manager which we would respond to.

I explained to the vendor that Operations Manager does not take input from email, nor does it accept input from the psychic network nor would I expect that it would do so anytime soon.

The vendor left.

Through the grapevine I found out that one of the high-ups of the company was not happy with me because my response to the vendor had been inappropriate. They recommended that I never use the psychic network as an example. A rule I have broken publicly for the first time today. J

SCOMBob released a blog post this week on how to monitor email with Operations Manager and Orchestrator so I figured that it was now time to tell my story and to point to his solution which is available at: http://www.bictt.com/blogs/bictt.php/2016/03/30/how-to-monitor-e-mail
